Full test of the Evolve GTR2 Bamboo by Tech Hat : my opinion as a passionate rider

Many thanks to YouTubeur Tech Hat for his test of the GTR2 Bamboo. In his video, he was able to try out the board both in town and off-road. Here's the transcript of his feedback, in which he shares his detailed impressions of the Evolve GTR2 Bamboo after several sessions at ride.

From the moment you open the box, you can tell that Evolve has taken great care with its product. The GTR2 Bamboo comes with a hard carrying case, a 4A rapid charger, the new Phaze Remote CNC aluminium remote control, a multifunction tool, cables, stickers and even a few spare parts. Everything is well protected by foam, and the whole package immediately inspires confidence.

The eye-catching deck in bamboo and fibreglass : is concave, supple and designed for carving. The Super Carve double kingpin trucks are massive, a sign of real precision in turns and increased stability at high speeds. This is clearly a top-of-the-range electric longboard.

Technical specifications

The GTR2 is equipped with two 6368 brushless motors, each rated at 3,000 W, for a total of 6,000 W of power. These belt-driven motors deliver gradual acceleration, but a very responsive response when the trigger is pulled.

The Power Flex lithium-ion 14 Ah / 504 Wh battery is not removable, but it provides a claimed range of 50 km (street) and 30 km (off-road). Weight varies slightly according to configuration : 11.5 kg on street and 12 kg off-road (AT).

Four driving modes are available : Eco, Sport, GTR and Custom. These modes allow you to switch from leisurely cruising to a lively carving session, or to ramp up the power for off-road riding.

Off-road experience

With the 7-inch tyres, the GTR2 becomes a real electric mountainboard. I've ridden it on grass, dirt tracks, gravel and even slightly uneven areas : The stability is amazing.

The double kingpin trucks are surprisingly manoeuvrable, even on uneven terrain. You can keep control while linking wide curves, put in a few slides and attack climbs without losing power. For an esk8 rider, it's a real pleasure.

Street experience

In street configuration with 97mm wheels, the GTR2's character changes completely. The top speed climbs to 43 km/h, and the acceleration is more lively. In town, it's a real carving electric longboard that lets you surf the asphalt.

The Super Carve trucks are precise and the flex of the deck bamboo absorbs vibrations. The result : is a fluid, comfortable ride that's also ultra playful. For urban use, this is one of the best eskates I've tested.

Carving and feeling ride

For me, carving is the GTR2 Bamboo's biggest strength. The turns are fluid, the recovery is natural and the stability remains perfect even at high speeds. It's a sensation akin to surfing or snowboarding.

This versatility means I can use it for everyday commuting as well as for more sporting sessions. Few all-terrain electric skateboards combine these two worlds so well.

Real autonomy

In my tests, I reached almost 50 km in street mode at a moderate pace and around 30 km off-road. The figures announced by Evolve are realistic. Even at the end of the battery life, performance remains constant, which is not always the case with other models.

Charging time is around 4 to 5 hours. That's a bit long, but consistent for a battery of this capacity.

Remote control & application

The new Phaze Remote is a real success. Robust, intuitive and easy to handle, it has two progressive triggers (acceleration/braking). The LCD screen displays speed, range, distance and temperature in real time.

The Evolve app completes the experience : custom settings (acceleration, braking, modes), ride tracking, statistics and Prism LED management. For an eskate rider, that's a real plus.

  • Real versatility : street + off-road.

  • Smooth, precise carving.

  • Long range (50 km max).

My verdict

The Evolve GTR2 Bamboo is one of the most complete electric skateboards on the market. What's most impressive is not just its power, but above all its versatility. Being able to go from street to off-road simply by changing wheels, enjoying smooth carving and having a solid range : is what makes the difference.

If you're looking for a top-of-the-range eskate that can do it all - city, carving, off-road - the GTR2 Bamboo is a sure bet. It's a fun, reliable and durable e-skate, recommended for both experienced riders and those looking to move up to a premium model.

Many thanks to YouTubeur Esk8Unity for his test of the GTR2 Bamboo. On his channel, he posted a full video in which he directly compares this new version to the GTR1. Here's the transcript of his feedback, after several days on the road and off-road at ride, which highlights the major improvements made by the GTR2.

Presentation and unboxing

The packaging is neat, with protective foam and everything you need to start riding straight away. There's a 4A rapid charger, the multifunction Y tool, the new Phaze Remote, plus cables, stickers and spare parts.

Improved technical features

The biggest news is :, with the motors increasing from 1,500 W (GTR1) to 3,000 W each on the GTR2. Result : 6000 W of combined power, smooth acceleration and much more torque.

The ESC has also been redesigned : for better thermal management, progressive braking and greater stability. Where the GTR1 heated up quickly, the GTR2 can handle several hours of riding without a problem ride.

The deck bamboo + fibreglass board maintains an ideal flex, perfect for carving. The double kingpin trucks offer exceptional manoeuvrability, and the 6-inch tyres provide comfort and grip.

Off-road experience ride

In AT (all-terrain), the GTR2 goes everywhere : grass, paths, gravel. Unlike the GTR1, it doesn't overheat, even after several hours. The engines are quiet, powerful and progressive.

When carving on uneven terrain, the skateboard remains playful and precise. You can attack wide curves or even attempt off-road slides. This is clearly an all-terrain electric skateboard built to last.

Experience in street configuration

In street configuration with 97 mm wheels, speeds climb to 43-44 km/h. Acceleration is responsive but progressive. In town, the carving is fluid and impressive. You really feel like you're surfing the asphalt.

It's this dual personality that is the strength of the GTR2 Bamboo : an electric mountainboard at the weekend, an urban longboard during the week.

Autonomy and real performance

I got around 30 km off-road and more at ride. Even at the end of the battery, power remains constant, unlike many other eskates.

The Evolveapp completes the experience, with diagnostics, ride tracking and firmware updates.

Highlights

  • Double the power of the GTR1.

  • Progressive, secure braking.

  • Deck flex ideal for carving.

  • Easy-to-handle double kingpin trunks.

  • Robust, full-featured Phaze Remote control.

  • Street / off-road versatility.

My verdict

For me, the Evolve GTR2 Bamboo corrects all the weaknesses of the GTR1. Where the old one heated up quickly and braked brutally, the GTR2 is fluid, powerful and reliable.

It's not a model designed to compete with extremes like the Diablo or the Hadean, but it's clearly theultimate all-round eskate, perfect for moving into the world of electric skateboards.

I'd recommend it to both motivated beginners and experienced riders looking for a reliable, fun and durable model.

🏁 Conclusion

In the opinion of Tech Hat and Esk8Unity, the Evolve GTR2 Bamboo is a versatile and reliable electric skateboard for beginners that will also appeal to experienced riders. More powerful and fluid than the GTR1, it combines comfort, autonomy and fluid street carving with real off-road capability. It's not the most extreme model in the range, but it's undoubtedly the most balanced for everyday use.

In short, if you're looking for a top-of-the-range electric skateboard that's equally suited to motivated beginners and experienced riders, the GTR2 Bamboo is a sure bet. A durable, fun, high-performance choice, designed to accompany your ride sessions for years to come.
