We'll guide you through replacing a rim, tire, and inner tube on an all-terrain wheel. These components are crucial for maintaining your board's performance and safety.
- Tire wear: Tires wear out over time, which can become dangerous.
- Defective inner tube: A damaged inner tube can cause punctures.
- Damaged rim: A damaged rim can affect your board's stability.
- New rim, tire, and/or inner tube
- 1/8 Allen key (provided with your Y-Tool when you receive your board)
Release all air from the inner tube to make disassembly easier.
Use the Allen key to remove the six screws holding the two rim halves together. Keep the wheel flat on a table to prevent the nuts from falling out.
Separate the rim halves: Separate the two halves while keeping the wheel on the table. Set aside the top half, leaving the screws in their holes.
Release the bottom half: Push to release the tire from the bottom half of the rim.
Remove the inner tube: If the inner tube is still in good condition, you can reuse it. Otherwise, replace it with a new one.
Install the new tire: Inflate the new inner tube slightly to give it shape (this makes it easier to fit into the tire), then place it inside the new tire. Ensure the inner tube does not protrude from the tire to avoid pinching when reassembling the rim, which could cause a puncture.
Align the valve: Align the inner tube's valve with the notch in the rim.
Assemble the rim halves: Place the top half of the rim, aligning the notch with the valve. Drop the screws so they fall into the holes on the other side of the rim.
Star pattern tightening: Tighten the screws in a star pattern to ensure uniform fastening. Check that the nuts are flush and securely tightened.
Inflate to 3 bar: Inflate the tire to 3 bar for the best range and performance.
By following these steps, you can easily replace the rim, tire, and inner tube of your electric skateboard on an all-terrain wheel.
