The kit installation process is the same for both the all-terrain (electric mountainboard) and street (electric longboard) versions.
A protection kit is essential for protecting your motors from impacts and extending your skateboard's lifespan. Follow these steps for a correct and efficient installation.
- Y-Tool (supplied with your skateboard)
- 1/8 Allen key (supplied with your Y-Tool)
- Medium-strength threadlocker (we use Loctite 243, but any medium-strength threadlocker will work)
Check kit contents: Two protection kit mounts (marked L for left and R for right), three protection bars, and ten screws (four short and six long).
To avoid confusion during installation, separate the short screws from the long screws.
Remove the wheel: Flip the board onto its side and use the Y-Tool to remove one of the wheels.
Remove the belt cover: Use the 1/8 Allen key to remove the belt cover, belt, and gear.
Identify the mounts: The mounts are marked L (left) and R (right) to indicate their respective positions.
Apply threadlocker: Apply a small amount of threadlocker to the parts of the screws that go into the protection kit bars.
Attach the mounts: Use two short screws to attach the protection kit mount on the side where you haven't removed the wheel yet.
Reinstall the wheel: Reposition the nut on the wheel axle to balance the board when you flip it over.
Repeat previous steps: Remove the wheel, belt cover, belt, and gear, then install the protection kit mount on the other side.
Align the bars: Slide each bar into position, aligning the bar with the mount hole, starting with the bar closest to the axle.
Apply threadlocker: Apply a small amount of threadlocker to each long screw before installing them.
Secure the bars: Tighten the screws firmly to secure the bars in place. Then screw in the bars on the other side.
Retighten the mounts: If you loosened the mounts to facilitate bar installation, make sure to retighten them securely.
Reassemble the components: Reinstall the gear, belt, belt cover, and wheel. Tighten all components securely to ensure a safe installation.
