Evolve Stoke X: A Retro-Style Board Designed for the City

Visually, it’s flawless. A short 85 cm deck, made of 4-ply bamboo and 2-ply fiberglass, with a transparent grip and an EVA pad at the back for extra comfort.

A nod to its origins: laser-engraved pinstripe, a tribute to the brand’s very first pintail. And most importantly, a real kicktail that opens up possibilities in urban riding: curb hops, 180°, reverts... and also excellent portability.

Powerful Motorization Worthy of a Longboard

Don’t be fooled by its size: the Stoke X has the same motors as the Hadean, that is, two 3,000W motors - 6,000W in total. The result: an ultra-responsive skate.

All controlled by the EFOC 2.0, Evolve's ESC, renowned for its precision and controlled power.

Battery: The Range We Expected

Once again, the battery is one of the major upgrades compared to the first Stoke. The X features a Samsung 50S, 50.4 V and 432 Wh battery, which is three times more capacity.

ESK8UNITY measured a range of 23 km in real conditions (75 kg, outside temperature of 8°C, alternating between 60% in Corsa mode and 40% in Sport mode). For a compact board designed for the city, it's more than impressive.

Range depends on the rider's weight, riding style, and skate configuration.

Trucks and Wheels

In terms of ride feel, the Super Carve 2 trucks make the difference: wider, stiffer, yet still as smooth. The carving is clean, controlled, even in tight turns.

The 97 mm wheels with a hardness of 76A offer impressive grip, even at high speeds or in sharp turns. And they handle small road imperfections well. They are perfectly suited for urban use.

Premium Finish and Details

As always with Evolve, the finish is impeccable:

  • Aluminum remote with a customizable color screen

  • Front and rear LED lighting controllable via the app or remote

  • Neat wiring, redesigned bash guards, deck with refined design

A small point to keep in mind: the larger motors of the Stoke X slightly reduce ground clearance, making the bash guards more exposed to scrapes, especially on curbs or road imperfections.

Furthermore, wheels over 97 mm can cause wheelbite at the back, especially in tight turns. It's best to stick to the original 97 mm to enjoy a smooth and snag-free ride.

ESK8UNITY’s Opinion: Mini Board, Maxi Sensations

The Stoke X really ticks all the boxes:
✅ Ultra portable
✅ Powerful and responsive
✅ Customizable
✅ Generous range
✅ Perfect for tricks and urban riding

It's simply the best electric kicktail I’ve tested to date. The remote, in my opinion, is the best on the market, the ride feel is exceptional, and you can sense the attention to every detail.

Complete Review of the Evolve Stoke X by Drew Elia: A Powerhouse in a Compact Format

A big thank you to YouTuber Drew Elia for his comprehensive feedback on the Stoke X. An experienced rider and familiar with Evolve models, he shares his experience after several days of riding this compact board with a retro look...

Find the key points of his review below, or watch the full video to dive into his sensations in real conditions.

A Design That Pays Tribute to the Origins

Honestly, the look of this Stoke X is stunning. It draws inspiration directly from the first Evolve pintail. The engraved bamboo pinstripes are super elegant. I love this old school surf style that you don't see enough of anymore.

At the back, Evolve added an EVA rubber pad, soft and pleasant underfoot – perfect for long sessions. It's a detail I really appreciated.

Optimized for Carving

What amazed me from the first meters are the new Super Carve 2.0 trucks. They are wider than those on previous models, and it makes all the difference. You get a super smooth carving sensation, very natural.

They are fitted with the supergrip wheels97 mm, which are also a real success. Thanks to their dual-durometer construction, they absorb road imperfections while maintaining excellent control for sliding when you want to have a bit of fun.

Good Range for a Compact Format

The Stoke X is equipped with a Samsung 50S battery, with 432 Wh capacity, and an announced range of around 45 km. Personally, I managed to cover 35 km in real conditions, maintaining an average speed of about 20 km/h, with a smooth riding style, in constant carving.

This is a major improvement compared to the first model, and honestly, for such a compact board, I find it truly impressive. Of course, the range varies depending on your weight, your riding style, and the settings you choose, but in my case, I was blown away.

A Compact Board... But Powerful

The Stoke X uses the same motors as the Hadean coupled with the EFOC 2.0 controller. And I'll be honest: it’s a lot of power for such a small board.

Even in Eco mode, I reached top speed. In Sport mode, it’s a real wheelie machine. There were several times I lifted the board unintentionally by just pressing the accelerator. It’s fun... but to be handled with care.

What’s great is that the Evolve app allows you to customize power, acceleration, and braking. I spent a good amount of time fine-tuning it for a smoother ride, without sacrificing the fun.

What I Liked

What really won me over is the portability and the range. The Stoke X is lightweight, easy to carry, and you can ride all week without needing to charge it if you’re doing short trips (10 km per day).

Between the deck’s responsiveness and the precision of the Super Carve 2.0 trucks, the Stoke X offers an exceptional carving quality. It brings back that surf feeling, perfect for dynamic urban journeys.

Two Small Drawbacks

I don't have much to criticize, but two points slightly frustrated me:

  1. The transparent grip: visually, it’s superb... but it gets dirty quickly. It needs frequent cleaning to keep the board looking good.

  2. The rear bash guards: due to the rear motor position, the tail often touches the ground, which slightly limits tricks relying on the tail.

My Final Opinion on the Stoke X

The Stoke X encapsulates Evolve's expertise in a compact format: powerful motor, solid range, excellent maneuverability, and exceptional carving sensation.

If you want a light, fun, responsive skateboard with a punch, you’ll love it. For me, it’s one of the most fun models I’ve tested recently.
